Monsoon showers it is about time you gear up to face it, and still look your best. Here are a few makeup tips.
Blush
Apply blush lightly. I feel it looks prettiest when you can’t tell that you are wearing it. Cream blushers are water friendly too. If your face gets wet, just dab it with tissue and your blusher stays put. Blending is the key word. So, be sure to blend the blush outwards so that it does not look like a blob of color on the cheeks. Shades of peaches are a must.

Powder
Use powder sparingly, only so much as is necessary to remove the grease off your face and nose.

LipsUse long lasting colour and non-transfer type of lipsticks, avoid the creamy glossy ones and opt for the powder matte tones or cream matte ones.
Hair
During the monsoons, your hair is always in a mess, at least mine is. Don’t use hair sprays and gels during this season as the gum can stick to the scalp causing dandruff. Dry massage the scalp with finger tips daily at night to maintain blood circulation. Use hot oil treatment once a week to be free of hair problems. With monsoon, a lot of problems like boils appear on the scalp, which is caused by bacterial infection in the roots of the hair. A red swelling forms around the hair and causes a great deal of irritation and scratching. There is pain and sometimes pus. To make the growth subside, apply kaalo jeera (black cumin seeds) ground in water over the infected parts.

Rainy season brings along with it, its share of skin problems like oily skin, open pores, boils and prickly heat. To combat a greasy skin and open pores, wash your face three times daily with a mild face wash. Rinse off every trace of face wash with warm water, then cold water. Use an astringent. Mix a teaspoon of honey and egg white and a dash of lemon and use it as a face mask for 20 minutes. Do it everyday for six to eight weeks and see a remarkable improvement in your skin.
During the rainy season, when there is profuse sweating and the body is not exposed to air, acne appears on the body, especially around the chest, back stomach and forehead area and there is a lot of itching. To avoid prickly heat and to soothe it, apply Fuller’s earth (multani mitti) dissolved in water into a thin paste and apply it over the affected parts. When the paste dries, take a cold bath. Yoghurt too helps relive the prickly heat areas if applied before a bath. Those of you who suffer from prickly heat should take chilled drinks and increase your intake of liquids.
And, lastly, tuck those denims away and bring out the cottons and lighter fabric wear.
Eyebrows
Keep up with your tweezing and threading, but forget the eyebrow pencil for this season. Instead, put a little hair gel or clear mascara on your brow bush to keep brows looking shapely.

Mascara
While using mascara and eyeliners, select water resistant types. Do not use kajal during the monsoon. If it’s a must, then go for a water resistant kajal.
